Salix bebbiana
Cuttings are 8 inches to 10 inches long and ⅜ inch to ½ inch diameter
Options:
This multistemmed native shrub provides a great source of pollen and nectar early in the season for lots of native insects. Growing 10 to 20 feet tall, it prefers sunny wet areas. Some of the Bebb’s willows we take care of are being trained using the practice of pollarding to provide a source of chop and drop fodder for sheep.
Cuttings can be stored in a sealed plastic bag in the fridge until ground thaw or started in containers. Scoring the last inch of the stem (pointy side down) can help callus tissue and roots form. Just be sure to keep them moist and have at about half of the cutting in the ground and they will grow.
